FAQ's

What if I'm not flexible?

This is the number one misconception about yoga. You don't have to be flexible to practice yoga. Very few people are naturally flexible. You become flexible with consistent practice. The more inflexible you are the more you need yoga. Yoga is accessible to every one of all ages and fitness levels.

Why do you heat the room?

1. Enhances vasodilatation so that more blood is delivered to the muscles. This means that the capillaries that weave around the muscles respond to the heat by dilation. This brings more oxygen to the muscles and helps in the removal of waste products such as carbon dioxide and lactic acid.

2. Allows oxygen in the blood to detach from the hemoglobin more easily. When blood passes through warm muscles, oxygen releases more easily form the hemoglobin. Blood passing through cold muscles releases less oxygen.

3. Makes muscles more elastic, less susceptible to injury.

4. Improves coordination.

5. Burns fat more easily. Warmed muscles burn fat more easily than cold ones. Fat is released during stress. The stress of intense exercise causes a deluge of fatty acids into the blood stream. If you exercise with cold muscles, they can't use the fatty acids, and they end up in places they are not wanted such as in the lining of your arteries.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing. Men - shorts and T-shirts, Women - tights and tank tops.

What should I bring?

Please bring your own mat (for hygiene purposes) a large towel, hand towel and a bottled water. Supplies available for purchase.

How much water should I drink?

The rule of thumb is to drink at least half your body weight in ounces. For example if you weigh 100lbs you should drink 50 oz of water per day. If you practice yoga in a heated room that number would increase to more than your body weight. You will start to become aware of what your body needs. Drinking water is essential to prevent dizziness, muscle spasms, nausea, lethargy and helps you from

feeling overheated.
