When I took my first yoga class with
Karen in March 2006, I was physically out of shape
and the high levels of stress involved in teaching
high school were taking their toll on my emotional
and physical well-being. Karen provided a warm
and open environment for me to slowly build my
practice. She taught me many poses and technical
practices, of course, but also taught me how to
push myself to my "edge," to modify
when necessary to accomodate my individual strengths
and to use strategies to mitigate the effects
of stress. Over the last year and a half, I have
lost many inches, built more muscle strength than
I thought possible, cultivated my self-discipline
and overall become a happier and more fully aware
person. Karen's teaching has everything to do
with these transformations and I thank her from
the bottom of my heart for providing me with the
tools I need to keep emotional and physical health
a priority throughout my life.

I have been practicing Vinyasa Flow with
Karen at Beyond Limits for a little over a year.
Since then, I have noticed how important it is
to have Yoga a part of my life. Karen's teaching
techniques help me feel challenged in a comfortable
environment. She brings balance to my life and
she gives me a chance to escape and check in with
my body. I believe everyone needs that sense of
inner awareness. Vinyasa is a challenging Yoga
practice but with Karen's guidance she helps me
through it. I saw results in my mind, body, and
spirit in no time at all. I highly recommend trying
Beyond Limits with Karen. It will change your
life for the better!

A good friend of mine told me about a
yoga class with Karen that consisted of stretching,
cardio work, building body strength, balance,
meditation and lots of sweating. "Hot Yoga"
is what he referred to this therapeutic exercise
as. The next day I signed up fo a week with Karen,
and that was over four months ago.
Today I feel fitter, more energetic much
more stronger and peaceful. Power Vinyasa is an
intense and incredibly relaxing exercise.

I just wanted to thank-You for taking
the time to help guide me with modifications due
to my back injury. I really don't know how to
thank you enough, if it wasn't for you, I would
be in so much more pain. Your yoga classes are
the only thing that helps my back at all. When
I miss even a week, I feel it. My physical therapist
asked if there was anything that helped me with
the pain and I said "yes" yoga class.
Not only does it help with my physical well-being,
it also helps me mentally. I really want you to
know how grateful I am to your teachings and your
patience. Now that you have taken the time to
show me modifications, I can participate in the
practice without being immobilized. From the bottom
of my heart thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, your
practice has changed my life forever.

I took my first class
at Beyond Limits Yoga three weeks ago. I have
done yoga off and on and different types over
the years. I always approached yoga from the physical
fitness point of view. How hard of a workout can
I get, how hard can I push myself etc.. It never
occurred to me to focus on what the breathing
would do for me in and of itself. But this time
I decided to stay open to what yoga can bring
to my life if I embraced the idea of connecting
to my breath daily on and off my mat. For me everything
I have heard, read or experienced first hand about
yoga rings true. I have all the same stresses
and issues to deal with but I am more aware of
my body and what it has been trying to tell me
for years now, all because I started to focus
on breathing. I have found some inner peace brought
on by connecting my breath with each movement
in class and by offering myself love and compassion
with each inhale and exhale. After years of doctor
appointments, various tests and prescriptions
and countless time and money spent trying to "fix"
myself it occurs to me that I just had to BREATHE!
Simple I know but something that has taken me
years to understand. Yoga for me is about self
acceptance not self improvement. With the acceptance
comes the desire to improve and move forward naturally.
This focus on breathing has brought an awakening
which gives me peace and the freedom to be joyful
no matter where I am at any moment. That is what
yoga has brought to me. Thank you Karen for your
passion to teach. You make a difference!
